Meet Our Doctor

Kia ora, I’m Dr Ivan Lin, a New Zealand-trained psychiatrist with almost a decade of clinical experience supporting individuals, families and communities across Aotearoa as a medical doctor. I’ve worked in hospitals, community mental health teams and frontline services — and over time, I’ve seen just how much more we need than medication alone to truly thrive.

That’s why I founded Mind & Nature — to offer a fresh, regenerative approach to mental wellbeing. My work is grounded in evidence-based psychiatry and lifestyle medicine, but it also reaches beyond the clinic walls — into gardens, food systems, forests and communities. I’m passionate about empowering people with the knowledge and tools to care for their minds, their bodies and the ecosystems they’re part of.

My approach is simple, but radical:

🌿 Wellbeing is interconnected — mind, body, food, soil, nature and society.
🌿 Mental health is not just about treating illness — it’s about cultivating resilience, meaning and connection.
🌿 Everyone in our motu deserves access to the skills and science that help us live well — not just survive.

I’m especially interested in the intersection of psychiatry, public health, nutrition and ecology. I want to translate complex science into accessible, meaningful conversations that inspire change and spark curiosity. Whether I’m running a workshop in a community garden or speaking at a local event, my goal is always the same: to help people reconnect with what truly sustains them — within and around them.

I believe we are in a time of regeneration — of systems, soils, minds and ways of living. My role as a psychiatrist is not just to diagnose or treat, but to walk alongside people as they reconnect with their own strength, agency and sense of belonging — to themselves, to others and to our land. My perspective is rooted in medical knowledge, guided by nature and shaped by a vision for a healthier, more connected future.
